It Was Twenty Years Ago Today…

Twenty years ago, a fledgling theatre company opened it’s inaugural presentation of “The Portable Pioneer and Prairie Show” by David Chambers and Mel Marvin.  I was lucky enough to be part of that magical production for that very special theatre company
Small Off Broadway theaters and theatre companies have always been the estuary in which new and experimental work flourished.  There used to be so many, and now, only a handful survive.  And we are all the poorer for it.

A few days ago, we gathered again in O’Lunny’s, a midtown bar, and talked and drank and visited and sang together again.  So many good friends.  So many warm and happy memories.

I just hope I don’t have to wait 20 more years to visit and sing with them all again.
